Diversity, equity and inclusion
Diversity, equity and inclusion
We believe Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) helps us achieve our purpose and deliver our strategy for fair and equitable outcomes for our people, customers and communities. It’s all about creating a place and space that is ready for you.
Creating an inclusive culture isn’t just a ‘nice to do’, it’s business essential. We aim to attract, develop and retain the best people who are passionate about our customers and have a diverse range of skills, lived experiences and frames of reference. It'll help us to drive innovation and competitive advantage, and in turn, drive improved financial performance.
IAG’s Group Diversity Equity & Inclusion Policy outlines IAG’s commitment to embracing differences and building an organisational culture that is inclusive and equitable – recognising and respecting the diversity of our employees, customers, suppliers, and communities that we serve.
Women in Senior Management
We’re committed to aspirational gender equity targets across IAG for women in senior management, in alignment with WGEA indicators.
The Workplace Gender Equality Act 2012 (WGE Act) places a focus on promoting and improving gender equality and outcomes for both women and men in Australian workplaces. In accordance with the requirements of the WGE Act, IAG lodged its annual public report with the Workplace Gender Equality Agency on 18 June 2024.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Employment
In 2013, IAG was the first major insurer to introduce a Reconciliation Action Plan, and in June 2022 introduced its latest Stretch RAP.
Our RAP shares that we're committed to uplifting the employment experience of our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employees and potential new employees via:
- Targeted attraction, development, and retention initiatives, led by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander specialists
- Driving cultural safety at all levels and across all business divisions
- Commercial investment in Indigenous partnerships and scholarships

Employee Network Groups
We amplify inclusion at IAG through the rich tapestry of diversity represented in our many Employee Network Groups (ENGs).
Our ENGs increase the voice of our diverse communities and provide opportunity for our people to contribute, connect and drive inclusion. Our ENGs are focused on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, accessibility and wellbeing, cultural diversity, gender equity and pride.
Early Careers
In Australia we support several early career programs, including CareerTrackers, CareerSeekers, Stepping Into and Alumni Connect, all of which provide students of diverse backgrounds the opportunity to intern at IAG. In Aotearoa New Zealand we partner with the TupuToa Internship program and First Foundation Scholarship program.
