Industry codes
Code of Ethics & Conduct
Our Code of Ethics and Conduct starts with our purpose and sets out the behaviours expected of everyone at IAG. This instills trust and creates confidence that we will deliver the best outcomes and value for our stakeholders. Our people should use our Code to help them do the right thing and to speak up when something is not right. It is also designed to help all of us manage risks and comply with the laws and regulations that apply to us. Our Code is supported by policies, standards and procedures. Key components of our code are:
- We manage risks and comply with laws
- We make our customers’ worlds safer
- We make our communities safer
- We make our workplace safer
- We act with honesty and integrity
Reporting ethical concerns
IAG has a number of mechanisms in place to allow our people to report ethical concerns, and these are set out in our Code of Ethics & Conduct.
All concerns will be taken seriously and addressed in a thorough and professional manner. When potential misconduct is reported, we will investigate and take appropriate action.
IAG will not tolerate retaliation in any form against people who, in good faith, report suspected ethical or legal misconduct or policy violations.
Group Fraud, Financial Crime and Conflicts of Interest Policy
The Group Fraud, Financial Crime and Conflicts of Interest Policy sets out IAG’s requirements for managing fraud, bribery and corruption, conflicts of interest, money laundering and terrorism financing risks, and compliance with relevant laws. It is important because these risks can impact our customers, financial position, reputation, and more broadly, harm our communities. It supports IAG’s purpose and strategy by prohibiting unlawful behaviours and requiring conduct that meets both IAG’s Code of Ethics & Conduct and the regulatory requirements that IAG must follow.
Whistleblower Policy
IAG’s Group Whistleblower Policy sets out the rights and responsibilities of people involved in a whistleblowing report or investigation. It is important because IAG is committed to a culture where people feel free to speak up if they see something that isn’t right. It supports IAG’s purpose and strategy by encouraging people to do the right thing to make the world a safer place.
Security trading policy
The company's security trading policy reinforces the responsibility of all directors, employees and contractors of the need to exercise care when in possession of inside information and sets out a protocol for dealing in IAG securities by designated persons. The Security Trading Policy was updated in November 2023 in accordance with Listing Rule 12.10.
Responsible Investment Policy
This Policy outlines IAG’s commitments to responsible investment and is important because we believe in being a responsible and ethical business. We also believe that successful investing requires consideration of sustainable business practices, as well as traditional financial risk and return assessments. This Policy supports IAG’s purpose and strategy by managing IAG’s impact and performance on responsible investment issues. The Responsible Investment Policy was updated in November 2022.
Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Policy
IAG’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Policy outlines our commitment and approach to embracing differences and building an organisational culture that is inclusive and equitable - recognising and respecting the diversity of our employees, customers, suppliers, and communities in which we serve.
Safety & Wellbeing Policy
Our Safety & Wellbeing Policy is our commitment to the physical and psychological safety and wellbeing of our people. It is designed to provide clear expectations of IAG’s management of safety and wellbeing risks, and operationalise our safety and wellbeing commitments to ensure our work activities are carried out safely and the safety and wellbeing of people who may be impacted by our work activities (eg contractors, customers, partners, suppliers, visitors and others in the communities in which we operate) are not put at risk.
Social and environmental framework
This Framework outlines IAG’s commitments to managing sustainability and social and environmental risks and opportunities for our business. It is important because IAG believes in a shared value approach – where IAG seeks to create commercial value alongside positive societal outcomes. This Framework supports IAG’s strategy and purpose, to make your world a safer place, while growing and maintaining the trust that enables IAG to succeed.
How we develop our retail insurance
We aim to develop and distribute retail insurance that meets our customers' likely needs, objectives and financial situations.
From 5 October 2021, we'll provide Target Market Determinations (TMDs) to explain the groups of customers that we sell each retail insurance product to. This policy and our TMDs apply to our insurance products that are designed and distributed within Australia.
Customer Family Domestic Violence Policy
At IAG, we strongly believe that family and domestic violence is never acceptable. We believe in doing the right thing by our customers, respecting who they are and their individual circumstances. This Policy sets out how IAG supports our customers who are affected by family and domestic violence. We are committed to working with our stakeholders to contribute to a domestic violence-free future, reduce the risk of harm and to help keep our customers safe.
Supplier Code of Conduct
IAG has developed a Supplier Code of Conduct to clarify expectations of our suppliers in relation to Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) related issues. For more information please visit our Supplier Portal.
Human Rights and Modern Slavery
We respect human rights and are committed to preventing and ending all forms of modern slavery, child labour and human trafficking in our supply chain.
IAG has a Modern Slavery Statement that complies with the Modern Slavery Act 2018 (Cth). This is IAG’s fourth statement and covers the reporting period 1 July 2022 to 30 June 2023 (FY23).
General Insurance Code of Practice
The General Insurance Code of Practice outlines certain minimum standards of service that you should expect from insurers that have adopted the Code. The standards covered by the Code include buying and renewing insurance, claims handling and complaints handling. We've adopted the Code and we're committed to complying with it. The Code Governance Committee is an independent body that monitors and enforces insurers’ compliance with the Code.
